i said on my tumblr that i wanted to make a jalec video. i got some suggestions for it but, i ultimately decided on a sad video because i love this song. this is kind of au, i guess, since it implies that jace is dead in the end.
Have I recced this before? I don’t care, it’s beautiful!
Jace was freezing. He was doing his best not to give in to it – he had enough to deal with as it was and complaining would get him nowhere – but it was a wasted effort; he could feel himself shaking and even if he was painfully aware of how obvious it was, the situation was already out of his control.
A canon-divergence I haven’t seen before, this is simply wonderful, I adore every little thing about it. Just like Jace, this makes me feel all warm, like coming home.
Alec discovered this when he was 10 and a half, the first time he threw knives with someone else while visiting Idris when Jace was back home in New York, and he spent the whole time thinking about Jace and what to tell Jace and what to bring back to Jace. Jace, Jace, Jace.
G, Alec POV. This is so painfully plausible, it made my heart hurt.
“I can’t do this anymore,” Jace whispers into the night. Alec furrows his eyebrows but doesn’t say anything, let’s Jace take his time. Jace puts cautious fingers on Alec’s wrist, “I need you Alec.”
“We’ve talked about this-”
“I want to run,” Jace admits.

Summary: When Simon calls Jace out for taking his parabatai for granted, he
actually listens. When Alec says, ‘Screw all of this,’ he actually has a plan.
“One more thing,” says Magnus. “I
need Alexander.”
Jace, on his way out of the
warlock’s loft, stops in his tracks. “Uh, why do you need Alec?”
Damn, why does his voice sound like
he’s just swallowed a frog?
Magnus looks at him with a hint of a
smile that makes him uncomfortable. “Virgin Shadowhunter energy.”
Is he serious?
“That explains so much,” Simon
scoffs.
That’s such an old joke. Isabelle
pesters her big brother every other day with vague and not-so-vague insinuations
about how he would be so much happier and easier to deal with if only he got
laid. Jace usually laughs at those comments and at Alec’s deepening frown when
he hears them. Sometimes Jace even joked about it himself, because teasing his ever-so-serious
parabatai is just so much fun.
Coming from Simon, though, the
remark doesn’t carry the same affectionate sense of humor. It’s just crude
mockery.
Magnus is still gazing at Jace with
an expectant look… and that smile.
“Alec, yeah…” Fuck. “I can’t.” Not now. Not after what happened at the Jade Wolf.
‘I’ll be fine on my own.’ Words you should never, never
say to your parabatai. Jace was upset with Alec for failing to protect Clary
and then for insisting on putting the Clave’s protocols above the obvious,
urgent need to save the life of Clary’s werewolf friend. If Alec refused to
help him, then Jace would do the right thing on his own. That was all he had
meant. But the way it came out…
He saw the way Alec reacted. Like he
had been slapped in the face.
Canon-divergence is my favourite thing, and this is simply brilliant! I loved going along with Jace on this ride of discovering how he truly feels about his parabatai.
Summary: “When Alec’s wings manifested for the first time, it was– well, if not the event of the year, then the event of the month, definitely.”
Notes: The second fic for @dadariios for the Jalec Gift Exchange; the prompt being about a wing!au where the Shadowhunters’s wings are particularly sensitive. This is unapologetically sappy because I haven’t written a truly happy Jalec fic in forever. Hope you enjoy it! ^^
