Linger in the Sun, by etymologyplayground – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Lan Wangji looks down to meet his gaze. Wei Wuxian loves having his eyes on him. He loves being the center of Lan Wangji’s attention. If no one else ever looks at him ever again, if no one listens to him or even hears him at all — if suddenly his existence goes unnoticed by every other person in the world — he’ll still be happy, as long as he has Lan Wangji’s steady attention on him. He reaches across Lan Wangji’s lap to grasp his other hand, the one that isn’t currently on his back, and he brings it to his mouth, presses chaste kisses to the well-defined knuckles.

Wei Wuxian has only just found his Lan Zhan again – which is of course when they’re cursed to not see or hear each other. Being them, though, they find a way to cope. 🙂

caved to the careless, by ilgaksu – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Love is a choice you make – like this, and this, and this. Xiao Xingchen’s shoulders pearl-bare in the light of a rising dawn, the sweep of his robes through the night as he moves like a minnow in dark water, forehead to chest with his laugh a breath against bone. Song Lan chooses, and chooses, and chooses, walks into it with his eyes wide open, walks until he crawls until he reaches until he –

This is breathtaking and painful. Did I mention breathtaking?

soft-hearted – Chapter 1, by sarahyyy – 魔道祖师 – 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī – Mòxiāng Tóngxiù [Archive of Our Own]

“Shufu, dada,” Lan Zhan says, sinking to his knees, “please allow Zhan’er to take Wei Ying back to Cloud Recesses.”

His uncle and brother exchange looks.“Zhan’er has promised Wei Ying he can go back home with us,” Lan Zhan says insistently, when they do not reply. “One should not break promises. Zhan’er does not want to break his promise.”

Uncle’s gaze softens. “Son of Cangse Sanren, you say?” he asks, turning to Wei Ying, who is quietly kneeling by Lan Zhan, fingers fisted tightly in Lan Zhan’s robes, as if he’s afraid that if he lets go, he will be chased away.

Ridiculous. Lan Zhan will not let that happen.

Lan Zhan finds little Wei Ying on the streets and takes him home. This is everything good and wonderful.

seldom all they seem, by Fahye – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

He bows to Wei Wuxian, sword in hand, sleeves falling properly. Wei Wuxian bows in return, and the sect leaders begin the opening courtesies, and for all of ten minutes Lan Wangji is under the impression that he is betrothed to a boy who is perfectly normal and acceptable apart from an unfortunate tendency to fidget with his clothes.

That impression does not last.

I adore betrothal AUs, and this one is just wonderful – gently funny and describing a kinder version of events that still remains recognisable.

five stories about rabbits, by awenswords – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

And then the man sees Hanguang-Jun, and Lan Sizhui looks over to see a star-struck expression on his face like the heavens have opened up and dropped something sublime on his doorstep. And then the man, swathed in black-and-red, runs.

Lan Sizhui does not see him again until the incident at Dafan Mountain. Master Mo plays a song that Lan Sizhui knows deep in his bones, and when his father materializes he has to look away for fear of being blinded by the sheer look of something on his face.

Hanguang-Jun is relieved and terrified and amazed and full of wonder.

A completely delightful A-Yuan POV as he tries to make sense of the stranger at his father’s side and the changes he brings.

The Absolutely True Story of the Yiling Patriarch: A Manifesto in Many Parts – Chapter 1, by aubreyli – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Wei Wuxian’s hand jolts, spilling a drop of wine onto the tabletop. “Love?” he croaks, then clears his throat and tries again. “Lan Zh— uh, Hanguang-jun, in love?”

“Have you not heard the story?” the other young woman asks, looking pitying. “You must, it is a truly heartrending tale of star-crossed romance and mutual pining — go to any storyhouse in town, everyone has been requesting a reading of this book.”

“There’s a book?” Wei Wuxian says blankly.

The ducklings decide Wei Wuxian’s reputation needs restoring but end up writing a romance instead… Wei Wuxian is traveling and writing lots of letters. This story is a gem from start to finish, both funny and sweet and altogether wonderful.

Stainless, by Fahye – 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

It’s all that bare skin. That’s the problem. Lan Xichen is right: cold water was a good thought, but this has simply compounded the issue. Sticking thirty young people currently out of their minds with magically-induced lust in such immediate and naked proximity to one another is enough to overcome even the most well-instilled Lan discipline.

Well. That’s not quite right. The most disciplined Lan of them all is currently hard at work in the library pavilion, having barely broken into a sweat beneath his own robes, despite being the one to catch the first and largest part of this unusual assault. Wei Wuxian smiles at his own feet for a moment, letting the fondness wash through him, then returns his attention to the problem.

Words Unspoken, Sights Unseen – Chapter 1, by GlendaloughGoddess – 魔道祖师 – 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī – Mòxiāng Tóngxiù [Archive of Our Own]

His name is Xiao Xingchen. He was once a good man, a cultivator. He lived in a world of darkness, as he does now. He does not remember his own face, but he remembers the face of another, so dark and beautiful. He loved the man with the face that was dark and beautiful. That man was gone now, dead by Xingchen’s own hand. Xingchen took his own life in sorrow and regret. He deserved to die, but his spirit could not leave.

Xiao Xingchen is a broken soul trapped in a pouch, carried by a wordless protector. This is the heartachingly beautiful story of how he finds his way back to his heart.

your heart, two doors down, by ficklish – 魔道祖师 – 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī – Mòxiāng Tóngxiù [Archive of Our Own]

It begins with a stray clementine, half-peeled and trailing rind, rounding the corner and rolling down the hallway. Lan Zhan has just stepped into the lobby of the apartment complex, grateful for the reprieve from the heat. He blinks, bemused, and watches as the clementine rolls to a stop just behind him.

nothing gold can stay, by rikke – 魔道祖师 – 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī – Mòxiāng Tóngxiù [Archive of Our Own]

Lan WangJi pushes him, thrusts a sword in his hand—go, go —and when he doesn’t go, Lan WangJi drags him up. The wind his hair against his face as Lan WangJi hauls him onto Bichen with him, his own sword dangling useless from his hand. He thinks it’s funny that not too long ago, Lan WangJi had refused to touch so much as his hand, and now he’s being held close with one arm, the other throwing talisman spell after talisman spell behind them.

Canon-divergence where Lan Wangji rescues Wei Wuxian from Wen Chao. Had me on the edge of my seat!
