Turning Page – Chapter 1, by flemoncake – The Maze Runner Series – James Dashner [Archive of Our Own]

Thomas refuses to think about Newt at all, about the way his breathy groans had filled the room, about how messy his half bun came undone, about how eagerly his fingers had opened Gally’s belt. No, no, no. He really doesn’t want to think about his friend, Newt, having sex. With Gally of all people. No. He briefly wonders if hooking up with people you dislike is another one of Newt’s holy but proudly broken rules? Because obviously, Newt dislikes Gally? He must. Dislike him, right? Damn Newt and his damn rules. And now with not catching Newt in the Map Room, he can’t even tease him about breaking some rules himself. And Thomas would rather face a Griever than admit to Newt to what he had seen. Newt rubbing up against Gally, Newt getting hoisted on the table. No. He won’t think about it. He will play it cool. He will give Gally the cold shoulder, Newt probably too, for good measure. He will catch Newt in the map room a different day.

Thomas witnesses something surprising… and is incredibly clueless how he feels about it, and about Newt. 😉 Lovely fic, even if the epilogue is a bit weaker. I especially like the moments with the other boys in the Glade in the first chapter.
